Pastoral Care

We are very proud of the young men and women that pass through Motherwell.

It is our aim to support and guide the children during their years with us, allowing them to develop into responsible, resilient and compassionate men and women of character who are determined to make a positive contribution wherever they find themselves in the future.

The bedrock of pastoral care at the school is the close relationship between staff and the pupils. This begins with the teachers and extends to non-teaching staff, as well as the school administrators, who know the pupils well and who are committed to their growth and welfare.

A pupil meets with his/her teacher every day and this gives an opportunity for difficulties to be discussed and achievement to be celebrated. Teachers are well-supported by the administrators who provide oversight and guidance in each class.

Beyond this, there are numerous other people who are responsible for the care and well-being of the pupils. We are fortunate to have the services of a School Counsellor who is here for most of the week. Medical Centre provides expert support, and, our main hall which also serves as a Chapel, which the pupils gather at planned times for an act of worship.

Pastoral care is integral to all that we do at Motherwell. Happy pupils thrive and strong pastoral foundations enable the pupils to aim high in all other areas of school life.
